How to Speak from the Heart in Business

Here’s the formula for your most persuasive presentation

Aren’t we most persuasive when speaking from the heart? And isn’t a heart-to-heart connection the best way to make a client feel the benefits of your work and appreciate them more?

There is a lot of talk about the value of building close personal relationships with clients to be successful but not a lot of help on how to do it.  

So, here’s a new strategy that naturally reveals your heart and will automatically make you much more persuasive. Of course, this requires you to speak from your expertise and experience but isn’t that the most effective way to do business anyway. This formula works as well in a formal talk using PowerPoint as it does one-on-one.

But please, to set this up properly, do yourself a favour and write out your full talk or sales approach first. This is not so you can read it but so that you know you have what it takes. Knowing that you have something of value to say makes you much more confident and much more persuasive.   

This is like agenda-selling where you work from a list of ideas to keep you and your prospects on track and on time. To start, create an introduction and then decide on just 3 to 5 key ideas you want to communicate including 3 or 4 key words describing each.   

Then, just EXPLAIN each of those ideas based on your experience – from your heart. Having no script in front of you opens your mind to say what really matters in the moment and will connect the best with your client. Finally, close with your key advice.   

People will feel what you say as much as they hear it. That’s speaking from the heart, and it’s the most persuasive way to present, either to a group or one-on-one.
